Over time, bright light, heat, and UV rays can damage your home’s interior, including floors, wall coverings, artwork, and furniture. Solar control window film greatly reduces the sun's damaging effects — and more.
Window film is a thin polyester sheet that is applied directly to a glass surface. Unlike the dark films that are often applied to car windows, window film for buildings is light and can be completely transparent.
They do their job, though. By combining the polyester film base with specially designed coatings in the manufacturing process, various degrees of reflectivity, color, and translucency can be achieved. Modern technology films employee layers of metals or ceramics which out perform early generations of film that where suseptable to fading changing color. These qualities, scientifically engineered and tested, protect the interior of your structure from the sun’s damaging heat and radiation.
The illustration below demonstrates the qualities of a window treated with professionally installed solar control film. Interior heating is retained, solar energy is reflected away, and visible light is transmitted through the window almost as though the window film were not even present. In cases where there is too much visiable light a film can be installed to reduce glare and squinting.
